on Ukulhas.
Ukulhas is an inhabited local island, not a resort. It is about two kilometres long and small enough that visitors get around it on foot.
The harbour, the village, the shops, the restaurants and cafés, the guest accommodation and the designated bikini beach all sit inside that.
Getting your bearings
The harbour and the beach sit on opposite sides.
Scheduled speedboats arrive at the harbour on the western side. The designated bikini beach is on the eastern, reef-facing side, with the village and the accommodation between them.
Maafolhey is about a 1-minute walk from the nearest beach access point, on the sunrise side of the island, and about a 5-minute walk from the designated bikini beach itself.

Sharing the island
Visitors and island life share the same village.
Homes, local businesses, cafés, restaurants and guest accommodation all sit inside the same community. That gives a longer stay access to everyday island services, and it is a different arrangement from staying inside a self-contained resort.
Swimwear is appropriate at the designated bikini beach. Modest clothing is appropriate through the village and other local areas.
Food
You can buy groceries, or eat at the island’s restaurants and cafés.
Local shops make grocery buying possible, and restaurants and cafés give you options for meals outside the house. A private kitchen adds a choice; it does not commit you to cooking every meal.
Stock, prices, brands and opening hours change. If a particular ingredient or dietary requirement matters, check what is available close to your travel date.

The beach
Ukulhas has a designated bikini beach.
The visitor beach is on the eastern side of the island, about a 5-minute walk from Maafolhey. Beach conditions change with the weather and the sea, so follow current local guidance while you are there.

Diving and excursions
Diving and excursions are arranged with island operators.
Dive centres operate on Ukulhas, including Sea Crest Scuba. Sites, schedules, prices, certification requirements, equipment and conditions are confirmed directly with the operator.
