For a longer self-catering stay, three features are especially useful, and each should be confirmed per property rather than assumed:
- A private kitchen, with equipment named rather than hinted at (cooking surface, refrigeration, cookware);
- Space to eat: a dining table makes self-catering workable for groups;
- Laundry, which pairs naturally with cooking in shaping how much you pack.
Kitchen access varies by property and should be confirmed before booking. Where a whole-home rental includes a private kitchen, that kitchen forms part of the booked home rather than a shared guest facility. Grocery shopping on the island
Ukulhas has local shops where groceries can be purchased. The island is compact and walkable, so everyday services are generally reached on foot. Because stock and prices change, travellers with specific food requirements should verify current availability close to travel.

- Waste disposal for kitchen waste;
- Whether cooking gas/electricity carries any usage notes;
- Refrigeration capacity relative to your group size.
How self-catering changes the cost picture
